Minimum 4 days for new drivers; 1-5 days for CDL holders.

To provide ample opportunity for practice and readiness, individuals obtaining their CDL must secure a rental for at least four consecutive days. This timeframe is designed to help you become comfortable with the vehicle and develop the proficiency needed to confidently pass your driving exam.

For those renewing a current or lapsed CDL, the rental period may differ. Experienced drivers familiar with commercial vehicles might require less time, depending on the duration since their last operation.

What Is ELDT Training?

As of February 7, 2022, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) implemented new regulations mandating Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) courses for individuals pursuing a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or specific endorsements.

Who Needs To Take ELDT Training?

Anyone who is:

Getting a new CDL
Upgrading to a Class A or Class B license
Getting a passenger (P) or school bus (S) endorsement
Getting a Hazmat (H) endorsement
Will be required to complete ELDT training courses.

How Long Do ELDT Courses Take?

It depends on the person, but most people find that they can complete each course in about 8-10 hours

What is a CDL?

A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is required for all drivers operating large commercial motor vehicles. By carrying a CDL, you prove that you have been trained and tested and that you are qualified to operate such vehicles.

What Types of CDL Can I Get?

Applicants may qualify for three basic classes of CDL: Class A, B, & C. A Class A CDL permits the holder to operate vehicles with a weight in excess of 26,001 pounds, with an excess of 10,000 pounds towed.

By providing easy-to-operate single-axle day cab tractors with 28 ft. single axle trailers, trainees may practice every aspect of the CDL Test in advance to ensure a higher chance of success.

What are the Requirements to Get My CDL in Texas?

All applicants for a CDL in the state of Texas must have a Texas driver’s license. When you apply for your CDL, you must obtain and hold a Commercial Driver License Permit for at least 14 days. Applicants must complete the CDL application before arriving at their local office.
